Terra Verde is a joint venture between Webuild, GS Engineering & Construction (E&C) Australia, and Bouygues Construction Australia.
The joint venture combines experienced local personnel with global resources and expertise.
Terra Verde is delivering nearly 10 kilometres of parallel tunnels between Glen Waverley and Box Hill, including 39 cross passages and two station boxes at Glen Waverley and Burwood in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs, as part of the Suburban Rail Loop Project.
This is the largest infrastructure project in Victoria’s history, shaping Melbourne and Victoria for future generations.
About the Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced PLC Engineer to join our Plant team on Terra Verde. Reporting to the Senior PLC Engineer, this hands-on role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, improving and automating electrical and PLC-controlled systems across site plant and equipment, helping to keep tunnelling operations running safely and efficiently. You will work closely with mechanical and production teams during day-to-day operations, planned maintenance stoppages and system upgrades.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical, automation and PLC-controlled plant and equipment.
• Troubleshoot PLC, electrical and automation faults to minimise downtime and support reliable production.
• Work closely with mechanical and production teams to maintain, improve and adapt plant and equipment across site.
• Develop and implement automation solutions for processes currently requiring manual input, including identifying and specifying required hardware.
• Plan and coordinate electrical and electronic installation and repair activities during programmed maintenance stoppages.
• Ensure the safe operation of control systems and that works comply with applicable codes, regulations and project standards.
• Manage required electrical and electronic spares, consumables, tools and equipment, and maintain accurate maintenance records.
• Support continuous improvement in plant performance, reliability, safety and environmental outcomes.
Key Requirements:
• Previous experience in a PLC Engineer or similar automation/electrical role, preferably within tunnelling or major infrastructure construction.
• Previous experience working on TBM jobsites.
• Proficiency with PLC programming software such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley and Schneider.
• Knowledge of industrial and IT networks, including Profinet, Modbus and Ethernet/IP.
• Capability working with low-voltage (LV) electrical networks.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate and report effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary and international environment and perform effectively under pressure.
• Flexibility to work shifts where required.
